Learning sensors

Contrinex has announced an extension to the sensitivity adjustment function for its C23 series of optical sensors with background suppression. The PNP-switching versions of the C23 sensors mounted in a miniature plastic housing (20 x 30 x ten millimetres) are equipped with an IO-Link interface.

This enables the sensitivity and other operating parameters to be set remotely. A simple one- or two-stage teach procedure, which is offered for the C23 diffuse sensors with background suppression, simplifies the commissioning of the sensors. The learned sensitivity parameters are stored in the sensor's internal memory and can be called up via IO-Link or updated remotely. Remote sensitivity adjustment is particularly suitable for high-speed process manufacturing, where minimizing downtime is a priority. as
