Omron integrates Microscan solutions into its portfolio
Omron integrates Microscan's automatic identification, vision and workpiece inspection solutions into its quality control and inspection product portfolio. Omron acquired Microscan in October 2017.
Reliable manufacturing processes and full product traceability are key factors in ensuring product quality, consumer safety and compliance with industrial regulations, while increasing productivity. A complete traceability and inspection solution enables manufacturers to track products throughout the manufacturing process and document each production step. This allows quality to be improved and defects to be detected early, as well as tracking individual products and components throughout the supply chain from the factory to the end consumer.
Through the acquisition of Microscan, which has more than 35 years of experience in barcode reading, machine vision and workpiece inspection, Omron offers its key industries a comprehensive code reading solution to further optimize the control of manufacturing equipment and production lines.
"We can now provide a one-stop solution for companies that want to integrate traceability and inspection solutions into their production lines. This includes, for example, powerful controllers with integrated SQL that can communicate directly with the barcode readers and a central database," says Nico Hooiveld, Market Manager at Omron.
Microscan's solutions will help Omron accelerate its goal of realizing smart factories - a key part of the company's "innovative automation" concept. In this way, Omron aims to promote the spread of "information of things" in society so that people around the world can benefit from greater product safety.
"We are also working on new solutions in which we combine Microscan's hardware and software, which delivers precise measurement data even under the most demanding conditions, with Omron's proven automation solutions," adds Jan Nieswandt. The first result of this joint development work is the V430-F, a compact barcode reader with autofocus. This device, which meets the requirements of protection class IP67 and has a robust aluminum housing, enables the most powerful decoding of 1D/2D or DPM codes currently available and is suitable for use by manufacturers of automotive electronics, food and pharmaceuticals, for example. as
