Measurement technology

Modular data collection

The Kidaq data acquisition system comes from Kistler. With the new system, the Swiss company offers measurement engineers all the components of a measurement task from a single source for the first time.

With Kidaq, Kistler presents a new holistic data acquisition system. "For us, Kidaq is an important step towards Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. With the new data acquisition system, we now have all components of the measurement chain in our portfolio - and are thus moving from being a component manufacturer to a solution provider," explains Marc Schaad, Head of Division ST at Kistler.

Kidaq has a modular design and can be flexibly expanded with additional measuring modules and units at any time. Thanks to various housing designs and numerous modules, the new data acquisition system can be used in almost any application. Depending on the area of application, customers can choose from various versions for laboratory applications, fixed installations and mobile use. The customer simply selects the components they need for their measuring task from the hardware, software and sensors - and thus receives the optimum data acquisition system for their specific application.

Increased measurement reliability

Kistler also points out the transparency of the entire measurement chain. Because the measurement technology experts qualify components of the measurement chain and calibrate them for the customer's application, they know their properties precisely and can therefore make reliable statements about measurement reliability. The customer receives precise knowledge about their measurements and can thus increase measurement reliability. Kistler has applied for a patent for the process of determining the measurement uncertainty of a measurement system.

Another important component of Kidaq is the web-based software Kistudio Lab, which can be used to easily process and manage measurement tasks and projects. The user interface was developed according to the latest usability criteria and designed so that it can be operated intuitively and efficiently by both occasional and experienced users.

With Kistudio Lab, raw data can be stored securely and centrally and, if required, exported and analyzed offline. The saved measurement setup can be retrieved at any time for further measurement tasks. This saves the user the time required for the time-consuming test setup and allows them to start the measurement straight away with the next test. as
