Keller Druckmesstechnik celebrates its 50th anniversary

In 1974, Hannes W. Keller, inventor of the integrated silicon measuring cell, founded Keller Druckmesstechnik in Winterthur, Switzerland. This year, the company is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

In order to advance the development of silicon pressure sensors according to his own ideas, Hannes W. Keller founded "H.W. Keller dipl. phys. ETH Druck- und Kraftmesstechnik", today known as "Keller Druckmesstechnik AG".

Challenging start

The company's beginnings were tough: according to Tobias Keller - son of the founder - there were times when Hannes W. Keller was unable to pay his few employees a salary due to a lack of orders. Thanks to monetary help from his grandfather, the Keller company managed to stay alive during this time.

Keller was soon able to stabilize. Growth was catalyzed by the fact that the company, as an established OEM pressure transducer supplier, had itself entered the international market as a supplier of pressure transmitters at the beginning of the 1980s.

Now 500 employees and 1.3 million measuring cells per year

The two brothers Tobias and Mike Keller have been running the company since 2019. 1.3 million measuring cells are produced here every year. With around 500 employees, currently eleven Keller branches and around 30 dealer representatives worldwide, the Keller Pressure brand is now internationally renowned. The complete Keller range includes pressure transducers and pressure transmitters, pressure gauges, level probes, data loggers, remote transmission units and pressure calibrators.

With a high level of vertical integration and a modular Keller product structure, the company aims to offer its OEM customers a high degree of flexibility. Customized solutions are also possible in small batches thanks to complete on-site production. Thanks to the company's high product quality and accuracy, Keller sensors were also able to establish themselves in the semiconductor industry last year.

New production building in Winterthur

Keller is currently building the "Diamond" in Winterthur, a 12,000 square meter main building in which the entire production department will move into its new workstations from 2026. At the same time, the company is focusing on digital transformation in order to be successful in the future.
