Expert Day Digital Retrofit

How to make old systems fit for Industry 4.0

One element of Industry 4.0 is the ability to make existing processes more intelligent. At Harting's Mica.network Expert Day, which focuses on digital retrofitting, four different retrofitting options will be presented using the example of injection molding systems.

Initially, production companies were rather skeptical of the 4.0 idea because they feared extensive and costly changes to production lines. However, the digital retrofit approach makes it possible to make existing processes smarter in a short space of time and at low cost, thereby benefiting from rapid amortization and immediate increases in productivity.

The Mica.network Expert Day will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Harting in Espelkamp with a focus on digital retrofitting. Four different options for improving production processes, increasing cost savings and extending service life will be discussed using the practical example of injection molding systems:

  • Conversion of outdated machine protocols into modern, open standards such as OPC UA and MQTT, enabling integration into MES / ERP systems
  • Condition monitoring based on energy measurement data, which is used as an indicator for the vital signs of individual machine components such as screw pumps
  • Asset management of injection molds using RFID for automatic identification in the machine and for inventory and maintenance documentation
  • Predictive maintenance with alarm values based on condition monitoring and machine learning

During the Expert Day, participants will have the opportunity to view the retrofit measures described above as part of a factory tour of the injection molding production area at Harting. The Expert Day is aimed at specialists and managers in the areas of production, maintenance and IT system integration. Participation is free of charge; the number of places is limited. as
