New version of Honeywell's Control Edge Remote Terminal Unit
Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) has announced a new version of its Control Edge Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), which can now measure both gaseous and liquid media. The latest product version also offers enhanced HART support for easier commissioning and device diagnostics. The new electronic flow measurement capability supports custody transfer of liquids according to the American Petroleum Institute (API) 21.2 guidelines in North America. This latest release increases the efficiency of remote asset maintenance, as it is used for both flow measurement and also gives the operator the ability to automate testing and commissioning of measurement points, reducing the need for hardwired input/output (I/O) devices and expanding device diagnostics.
The system reduces the time required for monitoring and diagnostics from hours to minutes and significantly reduces configuration time. The RTU can be used in harsh environments and is designed for easy use in remote areas, for example in applications for monitoring and control of drilling rigs, data compression, gas flow measurement, automation of shut-off valves, control of pumps and compressors, water distribution and wastewater treatment. ee
