Baumer CX and EX cameras
New rolling shutter models
Baumer is expanding its compact CX and EX camera series to include ten models with rolling shutter CMOS sensors with resolutions between five and 20 megapixels.
The new models have rolling shutter CMOS sensors from On Semiconductor and Sony, including those from the Starvisseries. According to Baumer, the sensors used are characterized by low noise and low heat generation. This makes the new models suitable for cost-oriented applications that require low-cost cameras with high resolution and comparable image quality to a global shutter sensor in order to reduce system costs. Thanks to the global reset function, which exposes all pixels simultaneously, even fast-moving objects can be captured without distortion and with full image quality and without the rolling shutter effect. Series production of the first models will begin in the second quarter of 2018.
The 29 x 29 millimeter USB 3.0 and GigE cameras in the CX and EX series offer the latest rolling and global shutter CMOS sensors up to 20 megapixels and are available in a standardized form factor. According to the company, customers can save time and money when implementing various applications with different requirements in terms of resolution, interface or range of functions thanks to consistent mechanical, electrical and software integration. The small square housing with all-round M3 fastening also enables simple and flexible mechanical integration, even in tight installation situations.
The CX series comprises more than 80 models, including cameras with IP 65/67 protection and an operating temperature range of minus 40 to 70 degrees Celsius, with exposure times of one microsecond to 60 seconds and frame rates of up to 1,000 images per second when using a ROI (region of interest). Combined with resolutions from VGA to 20 megapixels and outstanding image quality, the CX cameras can be used to implement various applications across all industries that place the highest demands on image capture detail and throughput.
