Interview: Jimmy Nassif

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Shaping the future of the industry

Autonomous robots in industry are now very reliable and efficient. Modern hardware and software are required to make this possible. In an interview with Andreas Mühlbauer, CTO Jimmy Nassif explains how provider Idealworks implements this.

Autonomous robots are playing an increasingly important role in intralogistics. What exactly can Idealworks offer its customers here?

Intralogistics is facing enormous challenges. That's why we at Idealworks take an approach that goes far beyond the use of individual AMRs. With our comprehensive portfolio of solutions and the offerings of our partners, we have developed a robotics ecosystem that gives companies full control and flexibility over their intralogistics processes. Our AMRs, such as the iw.hub, are not only at the cutting edge of technology, but also set standards in terms of precision and reliability. The centerpiece, however, is our cloud-based automation platform AnyFleet. It enables companies to control, monitor and optimize robot fleets regardless of manufacturer. With AnyFleet, we offer a flexible, future-proof solution that meets the requirements of today's and tomorrow's intralogistics.

You recently announced the intensified cooperation with Nvidia. What do you expect from this cooperation?

Since our first project within the BMW Group in 2018, our team has been doing pioneering work with Nvidia. Just one year later, we jointly developed a true-to-life visualization of a production line as a digital twin with Nvidia Omniverse for the Group. This long-standing partnership, characterized by trust and excellence, has enabled us to integrate Nvidia technologies into our robotics portfolio. With Nvidia AI, Omniverse and Isaac technologies, we are developing vision AI robots more efficiently and revolutionizing logistics processes worldwide. Our collaboration is a cornerstone of our innovation strategy and underscores our commitment to setting new standards in automation technology and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in robotics and simulation technology.

How do you see future developments, particularly with regard to digital twins and AI - what potential do they still have?

Digital twins and AI are key technologies that will fundamentally change industrial automation. Simulating, analyzing and optimizing processes in real time is just the beginning. The use of synthetic data is particularly exciting: We generate data from our digital twins that is used to train AI models. These models are applied directly to our robots in order to continuously improve their performance. This is how we increase precision and efficiency. At Idealworks, we are determined to fully exploit this potential. My book "Synthetic Data: Revolutionizing the Industrial Metaverse" explores these technologies in detail and offers insights into our innovation strategies and collaboration with tech giants like Nvidia to shape the future of the industry.
