Extraction solutions and filter systems

At Blechexpo, AL-KO Absaugtechnik will be presenting its extraction and filter systems as well as its new premium control concept for the first time: Extraction systems are operated with a constant, demand-oriented air volume flow via a frequency converter.

The new control concept of AL-KO extraction technology is unique, according to the manufacturer itself. A frequency converter is used to operate extraction systems with a constant, demand-based air volume flow, which results in enormous electricity savings and longer filter service life, among other things. Behind this is the innovative AL-KO Opti Control development. Using volume flow measurement and intelligent programming, the control system ensures that the air volume flow in operation always corresponds to the individually set value depending on the pipe diameter. Why is this so important? The air volume flow must be set so that the minimum air velocity required for the medium being extracted is always guaranteed. If the air volume flow is too low and the air velocity is therefore too low, extracted material can remain in the pipe system, which must not happen due to the risk of fire and explosion. If, on the other hand, the air volume flow is higher than required, too much energy is consumed. In addition, the filter medium is subjected to greater stress due to higher dust velocities.

Compared to a conventional system without air volume flow control, the company describes the advantages of a controlled system as electricity savings of up to 50 percent, an increase in filter service life of up to 25 percent and a significant reduction in noise, as controlled fans would only be operated at full load in exceptional cases. The concept is completed by a programmable control system with a plain text display, on which numerous other parameters such as error messages can be called up in plain text form in addition to the operating status. Both manual and automatic start are possible by means of a potential-free contact. Automatic detection of other machines connected to the system and automated fill level monitoring of the collection containers via the AL-KO Level Control 21 can also be integrated as an option.

The filter units in the AFU series can be used universally and are suitable for extracting chips, dust and welding fumes. The AL-KO Flex Unit 50, the most powerful unit in the series, will be on display at Blechexpo. With a maximum volume flow of 6,000m3/h, a negative pressure of up to 4,000 Pa and a filter area of 84m2, it ensures maximum efficiency and the best indoor air quality. In addition, the AL-KO Flex Unit 50, like all AFU systems, scores points with its compact, space-saving dimensions and very quiet operation. The AL-KO AFU Eco system from this series won the German Innovation Award in the "Excellence in Business to Business - Machines & Engineering" category in 2018. It is the first of its kind to rely on the supply of 100 percent fresh air and has an excellent heat recovery rate of up to 67 percent.

The industrial vacuum cleaners in the AL-KO Jet Stream range are tailored to customer-specific requirements and help to increase the efficiency of industrial processes. According to the company, they reliably meet high safety and cleaning standards even in demanding working environments.
