Motek 2019

Mara Hofacker,

Transport robots faster, housing more stable

Toerwegge is presenting the new IHE enclosure series for the first time at Motek this year. With a load capacity of 700 kilograms, the components in this series are particularly suitable for use in warehouses and assembly halls where heavy goods have to be transported. There will also be an innovation from the AGV sector: following its relaunch, the 2.0 version of the multi-award-winning TORsten transport robot will be on show.

The majority of the other products that Torwegge will be showing at the trade fair are also tailored to the requirements of industrial companies. This is because the demand for high-quality conveyor technology is currently growing, particularly in mechanical engineering and among companies with similar requirements.

Due to their composition, the products in the IHE housing series are very stable, allowing heavy loads of up to 700 kilograms to be transported. They are equipped with a swivel head with a double ball bearing, hardened bearing shells and strong kingpins, are made of solid pressed steel and are galvanized. The housings are available in sizes 80, 100 and 125 mm. The low overall height in combination with the high load capacity is rare.

The IHE enclosures are less susceptible to impact loads than comparable other systems. "The IHE enclosures really come into their own when heavy goods travel over uneven floors," says Uwe Eschment, Managing Director of Torwegge. There are potential applications in the automotive and metalworking industries, for example. But the system is also useful in other sectors. For example, the company is currently processing an inquiry from a customer who wants to move heavy platforms that would be too heavy for blue wheels or flight cases.

Torwegge will also be presenting an innovation from the AGV sector: The multi-award-winning TORsten transport robot will be shown in its 2.0 version following its relaunch. In this form, at 0.92 x 1.365 meters, it is slightly wider and longer than its predecessor. Thanks to the use of a new motor, it also achieves a higher maximum speed than before: at 1.2 meters per second, it is 25 percent faster than the previous version.

The trade fair innovations are embedded in the extensive component portfolio that the intralogistics provider is exhibiting at Motek. This includes wheels, castors and conveyor technology in various sizes, materials and designs. All products can be combined to create individual intralogistics solutions or integrated into existing equipment and systems for maintenance.
