Motek 2019

Andrea Gillhuber,

Comprehensive integration

Schall is inviting visitors to Motek in Stuttgart at the beginning of October. Under the motto "Smart Solutions for Production and Assembly", the trade fair for production and assembly automation aims to show that digitalization and integration have already arrived in everyday industrial life. The trade fair will be accompanied by the "Modern Assembly" congress, among other things.

This year, Bettina Schall, Managing Director of trade fair organizer P.E. Schall, will once again be hosting the traditional trade fair duo of Motek and Bondexpo in Stuttgart from 7 to 10 October. The focus of both trade fairs is on the practical applicability and feasibility of solutions for industrial production.

Parallel to Motek, Bondexpo showcases solutions for joining and connecting components and assemblies in pre-assembly and final assembly. Under the motto "Smart Solutions for Production and Assembly", around 1,000 exhibitors from the field of production and assembly automation will be showcasing their latest developments at Motek. Among other things, the growing requirements of end-to-end automated production and assembly will be addressed and suitable solutions presented. The trade fair will be accompanied by a supporting program consisting of special shows, forums and congresses.

Arena of Integration

The "Arena of Integration" theme park, or AoI for short, shows how digitalization and integration can succeed. The central theme here is connectivity. Here, visitors will experience how comprehensive system, process and component integration is already a usable reality in everyday industrial life. As a trade fair highlight, the AoI, which is organized by trade fair organizer Schall together with around 30 participants and cooperation partner Landesnetzwerk Mechatronik Baden-Württemberg, will provide trade visitors with concrete answers to questions about intelligent production and process chains in connection with digital applications. In 2019, it will be the prelude to a recurring special show that will present industrially practicable and implementable solutions to trade visitors and users.

Well-known automation technology companies, including Pilz, Phoenix Contact and Balluff, will be represented at the special exhibition area. Together, the companies have developed project ideas and will be demonstrating industrial manufacturing processes in conjunction with digital applications. For example, they will show what processes need to look like in the context of advancing digitalization in order to be efficient and economically viable at the same time. The networking of companies can also be seen on both the technological and entrepreneurial side: Competitors can also be development partners.

Congress "Modern Assembly"

For the second time, the specialist congress for assembly technology and assembly organization "Modern Assembly" will provide know-how and contacts on the topics of "digitalization" and "human-machine interaction". Organized by WEKA Businessmedien's specialist medium handling, the congress will take place on 8 and 9 October parallel to Motek in the Congress Centre at Messe Stuttgart.

As already mentioned, the congress is dedicated to digitalization and human-machine interaction. In theory, the topic of digitalization has already been thought through and everyone knows in principle how the digital transformation should proceed. However, experience has shown that in practice it is perhaps not so simple after all.

The congress offers a forum for exchange: twelve experts introduce their respective topics and are then available for discussions and contact.

The first day of the congress, which has the motto "Digitalization across the board", will focus on the far-reaching digitalization of companies at all levels and the digital networking of individual areas. The aim is seamless, trouble-free integration. In practice-oriented presentations, experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, R3DT, Auvesy, Schunk, Zimmer and Siemens PLM Software will shed light on the topic from various angles - from conception and system planning to implementation and operation.

The second day is dedicated to people in modern assembly. A lot can go wrong here. In the worst case, the employee is just a frustrated and unreliable link in digital production. The six speakers from Sick, Schmalz, Universal Robots, Pilz, IBM and Bott know how things can be done better. They have dealt intensively with the interaction between man and machine and know solutions that relieve the strain on employees and increase productivity at the same time.

The congress is aimed at specialists and managers from the fields of production, assembly and intralogistics. To enable visitors to Motek to attend both the trade fair and the congress, the event starts at 10:30 and ends at around 14:30. Both congress days can be booked individually or together. The detailed program of the event and information on registration is available online at http://www.moderne-montage.de.
