Digital twin-based assembly

At this year's Hannover Messe, Omron will be demonstrating how the trend concept of harmonized automation can be applied in an industrial context to counter the increasing shortage of skilled workers. The highlight is a flexible assembly demonstration based on AI technology.

Trade fair visitors will have the opportunity to tackle practical assembly challenges independently using AR (augmented reality) glasses and a digital twin. Robots and cobots learn from humans and at the same time teach them to further develop their skills. The basis is Omron's core technology "Sensing & Control + Think". The robot learns how to carry out assembly tasks by following hand movements and learning from the mistakes of the human operator. Based on the knowledge gained, the machine can develop an optimal strategy for assembling a product. In the next step, a digital twin of the robot is created to train other operators in a virtual environment. This close collaboration between man and machine ensures continuous performance improvement.
